It was 10am when the group, 7 of us (Edward, BettyK, Peck Hong, Linda, Peggy, Lionel and me) completed our brisk walk @STOP. Before going into the shower rooms, we had coffee and light snack at the Mushroom Cafe.
After shower, in 2 cars, we started our journey toward the Causeway. Edward, the leader of the expedition, with Linda following closely behind his car, we headed straight for 'yong tau fu' for lunch at a hidden spot somewhere in the 'wilderness JB' only Edward knows where. My evaluation of the 'yong tau fu' is 'so-so' not that fantastic, but is still worth the drive to eat the sour vinegar pig trotter and 'shio bak' which we had for side dishes. All in, including drinks, we paid about 10 ringgit per person.
After lunch, Edward led us to Bukit Indah where a few shopping malls are located conveniently within walking distance. I guess the main drawback as compared with S'pore is the lack of a cinema to add on some entertainment spice to the shopping complex. We spent a few hours at Jusco Bukit Indah before moving on to our next destination, 'San Low' restaurant for dinner.
Following closely to Edward's instructed speed, Linda finally sighed with relief for not loosing sight of Edward's car after a 'series of winding roads'. Hooray! we made it to the makan place at last which is located at Taman Pelangi, a close drive to the Causeway. We had chili crabs, a fairly large steam fish, garnished with fragrant garlic 'chye-por' , veg 'nai-pai' fried with garlic and 'sambal fun su yet', otak and beehoom, the restaurant's signature dishes. For desert, we had the authentic Teochew 'or-ni'. The total cost for the dinner is less than 200 ringgit which works out to 30 ringgit per person.
Spending a day in JB, is definately, a chirpy..chirpy..cheep.. cheep bonding venture for the group.
