Our sincere & heartfelt thanks to Edward for all the arrangements forthis Kuching trip. We had a great time together & it was such a wonderful, educational & enjoyable vacation.
Departed Spore Budget Terminal at 1455 hrs via TigerAirways TR 2494. Touched down at Kuching Airport at 1615 hrs. quite a modern airport. After clearing the immigration, we went in two MPVs to the Somerset Gateway service apartments. We headed for seafood dinner at Top Spot Seafood Centre Bukit Mata just beside the apartments. We had garoupa, black pepper, salted egg yolk crabs, sambal squids, sambal bamboo clams, bean-curd, butter chicken, snow peas, brocoli etc. After dinner, we went for a stroll along the waterfront. It was very breezy & the night scenes were beautiful, especially the iconic Sarawak State Legislative Assembly building, the Astana - the official residence of the head of State of Sarawak etc.
After breakfast, we set off for the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre whereby we got the opportunity to watch the orang utans at quite a close range during feeding times. Then our next destination was the Annah Rais Longhouse built with bamboo & wood raised above the ground level. Some of us purchased some local handicrafts, black & white pepper corns, chance to taste buah kedondong & tried some banana fritters prepared in different ways. Some of us went for the full body & foot massage.
Next day after breakfast, left for the Sarawak Cultural Village, visisted the 7 ethnic group houses.
We also went for the traditional boat ride along the Sarawak river to view sunset, it was indeed a very beautiful scene.
The final day was free & easy. We left for the airport in a mini bus for our departure at 1645 hrs via TigerAirways TR 2495.
